AN ARTICLE: LIVING WITH A DISABILITY

PROFILE
My name's Félix and I've been deaf since I was born. When I was younger I had to learn special skills, like sign language. I'm at secondary school now, studying science.

Life is a bit different for me often. For example, every day I have to learn new words, and I have to know their meanings perfectly to express them with sign language. I can look after myself OK, but I need help with the meanings of the words because the people teach me them with sign language, and it isn't very easy. All the disabled people have a special programme on their computers (they are students) to learn or study more easily, and I have got one of those programmes of sign language called people's signs and it teaches me with drawings of people's signs to learn new words.

Therer are one or two things which annoy me: watching the cartoons on TV, for example. I know that I don't hear them, but they are very very funny. Sometimes some people in my city scream to me because they know that I'm deaf and they laugh at me. But usually people want to help me.
